Looking north across Rottemeren in Zuid Holland, 10km outside Rotterdam.

I finally got out with my camera, walked around the nature reserve I live next to and saw what was what on such a fine day. I want a little boat.

I love how flat this is, yes water is often flat (unless you want to discuss the curvature of the earth), but to me this shot demonstrates the flatness of where I live, the far shore is reduced to a meagre smudge of earth sandwiched between air and water.

I grew up in Sussex with the rolling Downs on my doorstep, therefore coming to the Netherlands gave me quite a shock, the distinct lack of a vertical landscape baffled me. However, having spent nearly six months here now I've grown to love the slightly alien asthetic this lack of inclines creates.

'...And the sky is always huge and often bright yellow.'

Im a photographer.
here's a plan.

paint what you shoot.

oh yeah.

as you already do the opposite, I willnae say it.
but consider it said to lend an air of completism.

completism.

Cheers, it is nice here but I miss hills.
Completism tastes like vanilla, or gin, good gin...

I'm planning on working from photographs for a few paintings/drawings, the opposite would be to shoot my paintings, which'd bring us to William Burroughs unless I've misunderstood something.
Amazing shot... just stunning :)

xXx
mmm...lovely scenery.
I love the color and, yes, the stillness and flatness of the water.

Brilliant.
