Artist's Comments

Another horrible bloody scan, almost complete loss of tone work grrr.

Not sure about the title, might need to play around with it a little.

The original is one of my favourite pieces, enough so that if I had the space I'd go out of my way to reproduce it 20x bigger and hang it on my wall. I like it enough that I signed it when I finished. Actually me liking one of my paintings is probably a bad sign, usually it's the ones I detest that everyone else seems to love.

Acrylic on cartridge paper, A4. The biro lines I used to construct the face are still visible through the paint (usually I build the face around the lines then copy on to a separate sheet, this time I couldn't be bothered, typical that the one time I don't it turns in to a piece I like).

holy moly, that's gorgeous :O

those eyes... stunning. I'd love to see that reproduced in 3-d... as a sculpture perhaps. lack of yellow work out there...

again... stunning. it's going on the faves...

Thank you very much. I really wasn't happy with the eyes, I'm never happy with the eyes. I like working with yellow, I'd like to have created a kind of old coppery look. Thanks for putting it in your faves :)

I have to ask, do you think anything about (specifically with this painting, but anything really) human nature or any other real... subject or is that just an afterthought or just not present at all? I suppose what I'm asking is do you just paint an image or an image with a meaning that you have premeditated?

Great job. :D

Usually I set out with a vague idea of meaning in mind but nothing set in stone and often the meaning starts to work around the image rather than the image being built on meaning. Particularly human nature is something I think about a lot when I'm working.

Thank you.
